Over two days, participants will review 6-8 emerging technologies and innovations relevant to the drugs field, including:

  • drug production and supply
  • supply reduction measures
  • consumption patterns and trends
  • prevention, treatment and harm reduction interventions
  • surveillance capacities for the rapid detection of trends

The workshop offers an important platform for cross-sector dialogue and helps strengthen Europe’s preparedness and resilience in responding to current and emerging drug-related challenges.Over the course of two days, experts examined how fast-advancing technologies are likely to shape health, security, and society in the years to come. Rather than focusing on individual innovations, technologies were considered by their broader long-term social, ethical, environmental, and technological implications.  Experts established priorities by assessing both the potential impact of each technology and its anticipated development curve, enabling a forward-looking view of where opportunities and threats are likely to emerge.
